I agree with you, in my opinion, these are for Office updates.

Have you enabled Microsoft Endpoint Manager to manage Office updates?
Or how do you manage Office updates?
Does this client have Micosoft 365 Apps with Version 2208 (Build 15601.20148)?
I suggest you update to the latest version manually to have check.
- For 64-bit, Current Channel, you can update to Version 2211 (Build 15831.20208). Run
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.15831.20208
in Run dialog. - For 64-bit Semi-Anuual Enterprise Channel (Preview) Channel, you can update to Version 2208 (Build 15601.20378). Run Run
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.15601.20378

Then if the update fails, check for any error messages.
Besides, please disable Office updates temporarily to check this issue.
