I've just bought this new laptop and all the windows updates are installed, everything is in place. However, the right-click menu is really slow when I use it in the file explorer. Could you please advise?

No. There is an inherent issue with Windows 11 and even the latest update caused the right click to be slower and many users are complaining about the BSOD. W11 likes to use animation of sorts and you can tweak as much as you want, you can't get rid of it.

When I boot up, my right click is slow on desktop icons and folders up to 8 seconds. On average it's about 2.5 after I fist right click on an icon or folder.

Windows 7 had no lag. I can't say about Windows 8 or 10 as I went from W7 to W11. I also have a laptop with 32 GB RAM.

Deleting registry entries without knowing why and the consequences is just terrible advice. Don't do it!

    Suggestions:

Update graphic card driver. Visit the support site of the manufacturer to download and install the latest driver.

You may go for a Clean Boot.

Open Registry editor and locate the following:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\ shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Once you reach the ContextMenuHandlers folder, expand the category to see more folders. Now simply right click on each of them, leaving New and WorkFolders. Click on the Delete option to complete the process. Reboot.

In my case, I realized it was caused by the AMD option in the context menu. After removing it from the context menu, it went faster.
