The SQL Server 2022 is generally available since 16-November-2022

But in the Download area of the Visual Studio Subscription are only 4 versions available:

  • SQL Server 2022 Express Edition
  • SQL Server 2022 LocaldB Edition
  • SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition
  • SQL Server 2022 Express Edition with Advanced Services

Im missing SQL Server 2022 Standard and Enterprise Edition in the download area. Didnt find any informations about when or if Standard and Enterprise Edition will be available in the Visual Studio Subscriptions.

We need a SQL Server 2022 Standard Edition to test the In-Place and a side-by-side migration of our SQL Server 2017 Solution for our customers.

Does anyone know more about when this will be available?

Kind regards
Paolo

Until it is added to MSDN, you can use VLSC (volume licensing service center) to get a production edition. This assumes you have some sort of agreement in place with Microsoft. The only real difference is the embedded PID. If you have a STD or ENT PID, you can likely use the DEV media to do a STD or ENT install. You will need to track manually what is production and what uses MSDN. (I never rely on the media source to determine our prod core count for true up. Always pay for production use, no matter the media source.) Using a VLSC STD PID for development or testing can be covered by MSDN. In all cases, be carefully to install the correct edition. Some edition upgrades are not allowed. For example, ENT to DEV requires a reinstall. Without MSDN, it's not an option to use ENT free as you can with DEV edition. This is where installing ENT by mistake will be painful.
