    It looks like something didn’t remove properly when you uninstall SQL.

    I'm afraid that I don't have any direct solution for you. But it seems that something on your machine is out of whack, possibly something related to the MSI service.

    Maybe you could try to run a repair on your OS. Else it may be that be that you need to flatten it and start over.

    Or just give up and install SQL Server on a virtual machine.

    Hi,

    I had a similar problem once because the path to my installation files was too long (but not too long decompressing to a folder based on a long iso file name in the downloaded files folder was enough).
    Try to shorten the path to your installation files and try again.
