VMM 2019 Trial

I am trying to get VMM setup on the trial VHD.

I have completed everything up through the Install and configure the evaluation version of SQL Server.

When I try to configure the VMM, when it goes to installing features but it never completes the VMM management feature, goes to rolling back features with the error message below:

"VMM is unable to complete the requested operation because there are no logon servers available. Ensure that the domain controller is up and running that you have access to it."

The computer has been added to the domain, I am logged into the domain.

Any idea of what I am missing?

I have also had to enable SMB1 as the DC is a server 2003 machine.

I know it is not ideal, but trying to get some vhd of the old system made, prior to migration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Pat

    Hi @Pat Sinclair ,

Sounds odd, did you follow the documentation SCVMM_2019_VHDEVAL.docx step-by-step?
Personally, I've never been a fan of the pre-installed VHDs as they tend to be trouble, I'd recommend using the other SCVMM 2019 evaluation instead.

    Hi,

To verify this, I've downloaded all the files, extract them, create a virtual machine, start it,

System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2019 – Evaluation (VHD)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58058

assign a static IP, join the domain, turn off the firewall, follow the document downloaded, and it works.

For our problem, it says there is no logon server found. To ensue the target server has good connectivity with domain controller, we can use the following command:

    nltest /dsgetdc:domain_name or nltest /sc_query:domain_name

    Hope the above information helps.
