Cancel Azure subscription without knowing subscription owner

I have created a subscription back in July and did some labs on it, but I totally forgot about it, or thought I already deleted it. I recently found out that the resources are still running on that subscription and charging me monthly. I can see it under billing management, but I cannot access it. I tried to login using multiple accounts and check all the tenants available but still cannot find that subscriptions, can't find the Service Tenant ID anywhere either.

When I try to access it, it says I need RBAC access which must be requested from subscription owner. Unfortunately, I cannot remember which account I use to create it anymore.

Is there any other way for me to cancel that subscription? Thank you!

    Hello @Hanh P

You can reach out to azure support team by following the below link reference. Please ensure to share the subscription ID and invoice ID (as you mentioned you're still being charged). Support team will be able to identify the account used to create the subscription and perhaps, assist with checking and disabling it as per your request.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-portal/supportability/how-to-create-azure-support-request#go-to-help--support-from-the-global-header

If you're unable to create support request, try to reach support via global customer support as shown below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/global-customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2

    Hope this helps!

    Regards
    Divya.

    Hi,

If you are global admin, did you elevate your access, sign out, sign back in, and then try to access the subscription, grant access to it, etc.? Please see article below:

Elevate access to manage all Azure subscriptions and management groups

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/elevate-access-global-admin

    Thanks.

Email is required to create an account. you need to go to all your emails. :)

There will also be a details in your credit card billing that you can use when you reach out to azure support that should be enough information
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/contact-microsoft-azure-support-2315e669-8b1f-493b-5fb1-d88a8736ffe4

The shortest way for you to cancel the billing is to request for a card replacement from your CC provider. If you dont pay the account will be deactivated

@TP Thank you for your answer. Yes I do have Global Admin access and also did the following steps that you listed, also in the article, but I still cannot see the subscription.

@jose de jesus I thought about reaching out to Support but I cannot select that subscription that I have question about. Is it ok if I submit the request under different subscription? If not, I might consider doing the 2nd option you said, which is replacing the CC. Thank you for your suggestion.

You have to check each and every Directory to find the right subscription while logged in with a Global Administrator account.

Once, you found the right subscription, you can check all users under AD Users. Hope that help you to found the right user.
