Remote Desktop Copy and Paste - Downloads Folder - Security Issue

I'm using the remote desktop app from the app store. With Local Resources Clipboard enabled, it seems to copy files over to your downloads folder without your knowledge. I would like to keep that enabled to copy and paste text but as soon as I hit copy on a file, the file appears in my Downloads\Remote Desktop folder without my knowledge.

This seems to be a security risk as the user may not know their private files they were copy and pasting within the remote desktop are now in their downloads folder on the other computer. It also wastes bandwidth, I once copied a 3 gig file from one folder to another within the remote desktop only to find it a week later on my local computer downloads folder.

Most users probably aren't aware this is happening. The file should only go to the local computer if the user choose paste.

    Hi,
1.What is the version of RDC you are running? For the version released on August, it mentioned to fix issues with copying files.

2.In general, copy paste files between local and remote PC can be done by following steps.

    • Right click the file you want to transfer
    • Choose Copy from the menu
    • Right click the folder (or desktop) you want to transfer to
    • Choose Paste

For your findings and feedback, you could post via the remoteapp feedback hub or in below user voice forum, where the product team will regularly visit.

This is a feature that can be turned off. From inside the app

    • Edit the connection for the server/PC you want to modify.
    • Click Show more to see all the options/settings.
    • Under "Local Resources" uncheck the "Clipboard"

This will stop the app from downloading everything you "Copy" to the clipboard.
