I recently updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and now my Remote Desktop Connection is not working as expected. I enter my login credentials in the RDC client. Previously, when I would login using this method, clicking "connect" would directly login to the computer, and put me on the user's desktop. But now, clicking "connect" brings me to the remote computer's lock screen. I then have to enter credentials again to get in.
The lock screen on the remote computer gives me the option to use a pin, but using my pin gives the error message, "Something went wrong and your PIN isn't available (code: 0x80090010). Click to set up your PIN again." So I can only login by repeating password authentication.
How do I restore the original behavior, where the saved credentials in the client would automatically bypass the lock screen on the remote computer?

Hi,
Thank you for your question and for reaching out.
I understand that you're having issues with the Remote Desktop Connection after upgrading to Windows 11. The error message about your PIN "Something went wrong, and your PIN isn't available (code: 0x80090010). Click to set up your PIN again." is most likely a synchronization error.
To resolve that, kindly go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. From there, turn OFF the Additional settings "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended)". After doing so, remove your PIN then restart the device.
Once done with the steps above, go back to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options then turn ON the additional settings you turned off earlier then re-add a PIN then restart your device again.
After the restart, test your Remote Desktop Connection and it should already work. In worst-case scenario that it did not help, try restoring your system by doing the steps from this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-system-restore-a5ae3ed9-07c4-fd56-45ee-096777ecd14e
