MAUI SemanticProperties / screen reader: Only first heading recognised

In a XAML view, I have 3 labels declared as SemanticProperties.HeadingLevel="Level1", but only the first is recognized as heading. Then the screen reader (TalkBack on Android) tells me "No next heading". What could cause this?

Could you please provide the following information:

Your Android API level.

Does this issue only occur on Android devices?

In addition, it could be caused by some difference between Visual order and Semantic order.

Thanks for your follow-up. It took me some time to investigate, because I could only test on Android at first, not on an iOS device.

The Android phone is on Android 12 (that would be API level 31), the MAUI project does target API level 33 and requires a minimum API level of 28.

Does it only occur on Android - yes! On iOS, there is no option to jump explicitly to headings, but all 3 headings are recognized as headings by the screen reader, when reading out item by item (by swiping right to go to the next item). The behavior on Android may be correlating with the issue described here. On Android this whole block is handled as one, so it may be the cause, that the headings inside the block can not be recognized.

Thank you for pointing me to Rachels blog post on meaningful content ordering. I think the mentioned SemanticOrderView, which (if I got this correctly) is yet to be implemented in MAUI, will significantly improve the possibility to create more accessible UIs.
