Hi,

By mistake I installed core mode instead of GUI mode.
I tried to perform a upgrade in place on one of domain controller windows 2012 to Windows 2016

Do you have any idea to restore or install GUI mode ?

    Hi,

Upgrade in place is not recommended method to upgrade the OS of your domain controller.
If you have selected core mode in windows 2016 installation , you can't convert it to GUI mode. You have to reinstall the server.
For your case , I recommend you to perform the following steps:

    • Perform a metadata cleanup to demote manually the impacted domain controller
    • Format and reinstall the server with windows 2016 GUI mode (desktop Experience).
