Azure VMSS 10 model limit?

Recently when I update my VMSS model, I received error like

MyVmssName has reached its limit of 10 models that may be referenced by one or more VMs belonging to the Virtual Machine Scale Set. . Upgrade the VMs to the latest model of the Virtual Machine Scale Set before trying again.

Does Azure have some official documentation on this 10 model limitation? Could not find it anywhere.

    @Yu Lan
    Your VMSS Orchestration mode is set to Uniform which is designed to be a collection of similarly configured virtual machines. In manual upgrade mode we allow different VMs to have different models but that is restricted to 10 models overall (all the VMs in the VMSS can have 10 unique configurations).

    Please consider

    1) bringing the older VMs to newer models

    2) using VMSS Flexible if you want to have unlimited variations of VMs in the VMSS.

    I don't see that we have the model limits posted in the documentation. I have reached out to our product and documentation teams to see about getting this information added. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention.

    Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have further questions or need further assistance.
