What permission is required to remote access other domain computers by using \\computername\c$?

Dear experts,

I found that as Domain Admin user, some of the domain computers can be accessed by using UNC path \computername\c$, however some of them are not allowed this way?
I would like to know what permission is required for using this function and what might be worth checking on the issue with those in question?

User needs to be a member of the local administrator's group.

It could be the reason. You could stand up a new one for testing, confirm all is working then push the suspect modifications and check the results to confirm.

Hello,

In most case scenarios this is due to the SMB protocol not being enabled on source or destination of the connection.

Please try the next on the affected computers:

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Click on Programs.
3. Click on Turn Windows features on or off link.
4. Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option.
5. Check the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the Restart now button
