I am using Excel on a 2013 Mac. I recently upgraded the operating system. I have an annual subscription to Office 365. Now my sheets are loading with data including row numbers upside down. Any clues?

    Hi @Hugh Springford

    1) According to this similar post at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/excel-problem-when-using-a-mac/f304edf2-4593-415c-80b2-a7738cb57a42 you should download the AutoUpdate when upgrading your macOS version:

    AutoUpdate app

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=830196

    2) If you have an annual subscription to Office 365 I'd recommend download the newest version of Office 365 (Excel) and see if this occurs.

Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 on a PC or Mac

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/download-and-install-or-reinstall-microsoft-365-or-office-2021-on-a-pc-or-mac-4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658

Excel 2013 end of life is April 11, 2023 which is quickly approaching and you will receive no support for it going forward. I'd recommend getting used to the new Excel and see if it clears up your issues.

    Hi @Hugh Springford

Please refer to DillonJS‘s suggestions that update your Office version.

You can download, install AutoUpdate from this website to update Office and see the outcomes.

    Hi @Hugh Springford

Thanks for your sharing, I have received your feedback.

I am glad that you find the workaround.

By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.", and according to the scenario introduced here: Answering your own questions on Microsoft Q&A, I would make a brief summary of this thread:

    Issue Symptom:

After upgraded the operating system, Excel sheets are loading with data including row numbers upside down.

    Workaround:

Scrolling through the spreadsheet and back again will invert the spreadsheet and show correctly.

    Reference:

Excel for Mac Opening Files upside down and backwards

You can try rotating the data in the Excel sheet by transposing it. To do this, you can use the following steps:

    1. Select the data you want to rotate.
    2. Right-click the selected data and select "Copy".
    3. Right-click a blank cell in the same sheet and select "Paste Special".
    4. In the Paste Special dialog box, select "Transpose".
    5. Click OK to complete the operation.

This should rotate the data, including the row numbers, so that they are displayed right side up.
