Hi guys,

Can I add a SQL server under the central management server which is not part of the domain? So is for example a workgroup SQL server.

Hope someone knows the answer.

kind regards
Marco

    Hi @Anonymous ,

In the first link I post, we can read this content: There is one other disadvantage. All registered server connections in the CMS can only use Windows authentication. This means you can only add servers to your CMS that are in the same domain or a trusted domain. You will not be able to add standalone servers that are not in a domain. We generally see this in a DMZ scenario where the SQL Server hosts data for a public facing web server. Along those lines, we typically see that test and development environments are hosted in separate untrusted domains. You will not be able to add these servers either. In these scenarios, you will need a separate CMS in each untrusted domain. Because the machines in my environment are in the domain, I have no way to do the test.

    Best regards, Seeya

    Thanks SeeyaXi-msft for your answer.

Yes the blogs describe adding a server under the CMS within a domain or a second domain. But NOT adding a SQL server which is NOT part of a domain but is a member of a workgroup. I think it is NOT possible, but I'm not quite sure.

    Anybody else with ideas?

    kind regards
    Marco
