Please can you help with this issue?
We are unable to discover a SQL server 2016 that is running on a Windows 10 client that is reporting in SCOM and OS of client appears healthy.
We have been enabling SQL monitoring for other computers without issues and this is strange case. We are using Kevin Holman's Addendum MP.

I am not acquainted with Addendum MP, and I have a feeling that maybe you should have included the appropriate mem- tag to target people who know SCOM.

However, I have an idea of what might be the reason. On that server, open SQL Server Configuration Manager. Find the node SQL Server protocols. Right-click on the server itself in the left pane (and not any of the protocols to the right) and select Properties. Could it be that Hide Instance is set to Yes?

    See screenshot below.

    Hi @Daniel C ,

the reason for this is that the SQL Server Monitoring is supported only on Server Operating Systems, so most probably the disocveries are targeted only the WIndows Server OS classes and not to the client POS classes. This is stated here:

Scope and Supported Configuration in Management Pack for SQL Server https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/sql-server-management-pack-supported-configuration?view=sc-om-2016&WT.mc_id=EM-MVP-5002219

I hope I could help you with that.
