SharePoint Migration Tool

Question

Hi, I have been asked by an infosec team whether or not the SharePoint Migration Tool stores any data on the C:\ drive of the machine conducting the migration? anybody know? we will be migrating from a network fileshare to SharePoint online

Hi @Kevin Egan

After migration, SharePoint Migration Tool will generate logs and reports automatically under the path:

C:\Users\spsetup\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MigrationTool\

The reports is to Monitor and reporting status of migration tasks.

You could also save a JSON file or text file which includes the migration source and destination during the migration when you click "Save", the path is selected by yourself.

This depends where you install SPMT, the location of the folders created automatically will all be under %appdata%\Microsoft\MigrationTool.
