Excel files from Microsoft office Mac 2011 to 2021

I am in the process of purchasing a new iMac desktop, I have existing excel files from Microsoft office home & student 2011, I will purchase Microsoft office home & student 2021.

Do I need to import files into Microsoft Office home & student 2021? Or by simply opening the 2011 excel files in Microsoft office home & student 2021 update my excel files?
