I got a new phone, i downloaded authenticator onto the new phone. Whenever i try to log onto my email and use authenticator to log in, the code will not go to my new phone, but i charged my old phone and saw that it still comes up on the old phone. So if i want to log on, I cannot use my new phone, I have to get my old phone and use that. Any advice with how to get the app to work on my new phone? Thank you.

You have to manually transfer the accounts across.

Go into each account, disable and re-enable MFA with the new phone.

Or if you have enabled backup and using the same type of phone (ie IOS or Android), then you can try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/back-up-and-recover-account-credentials-in-the-authenticator-app-bb939936-7a8d-4e88-bc43-49bc1a700a40

    Hi Abby,

Unfortunately, if you don't have access to the old phone and have no backup, you'll need to manually transfer all the accounts that you had onboarded to old phone. You'll need to access https://aka.ms/mfasetup , and login with each account that you need to migrate to new phone.

After that, you'll need to click on +Add sign-in method and choose the "Authenticator" app. After that you'll notice the wizard for MFA onboarding, and click next. And be aware to choose "Work or school".
