Hi,

Exchange Server 2019 mainstream end date is in Jan 2024. If we bought Exchange server 2019 in Q2 or Q3 of 2023, what will happened to the 2019 version when new Exchange server edition launched? if we want to use the new version, will we be able to update Exchange Server 2019 to the new version or need to buy new license?

Hi @Sotheavy Sombath

If we bought Exchange server 2019 in Q2 or Q3 of 2023, what will happened to the 2019 version when new Exchange server edition launched? if we want to use the new version, will we be able to update Exchange Server 2019 to the new version or need to buy new license?

Yes, according to this official link, the mainstream end date for Exchange 2019 is in Jan 2024. But Mainstream Support is just the first phase of the product lifecycle and support like "Security updates at no additional cost" would be provided during the Extended Support phase (end date is Oct 14, 2025 for Exchange 2019). For more details about the Mainstream Support and Extended Support phase, refer to: Fixed Lifecycle Policy.

Regarding your concern about the new Exchange server edition, you would need to buy new license for the new version if you want to use it in your environment.
