Hello,

I am unable to access azure portal using Microsoft account. Showing authentication error as request sent to my authenticator (phone app) but I couldn't receive it to approve.

Please suggest any solution to access the portal

    You can restore from backup (assuming there was one) but make sure no accounts have been added to the newly install app. Then sign on with recovery account to do the restore.

    You can recover your account credentials from your cloud account, but you must first make sure that the account you're recovering doesn't exist in the Microsoft Authenticator app. For example, if you're recovering your personal Microsoft account, you must make sure you don't have a personal Microsoft account already set up in the authenticator app. This check is important so we can be sure we're not overwriting or erasing an existing account by mistake.

    @Priyanka Saoji

    Thank you for your post and I apologize for the delayed response!

    From your issue, I understand that you're unable to access the Azure Portal because you aren't receiving the MFA request sent to your Authenticator app in order to approve it. There are a number of possible explanations for why verification codes don't always arrive, as explained within the Troubleshooting verification code issues documentation. However, to provide you with another solution to access the portal, you can select the Forgot my password? option during login.

    1. Since you can't use your Authenticator App, you can select Use a different verification option.
    2. You can verify your identity via Email, Phone/Text. If you don't have access to any of these options, or if you never set this up you can select - I don't have any of these.
    3. If you have your Recovery codes, you can use them. Otherwise, you can select No.

    If you're still having issues and unable to login to the Azure Portal, you can try reaching out to another teammate within your Azure AD tenant, so they can add an updated phone number or email to your Azure AD user, so you can login. For more info - Add authentication methods for a user.

    I hope this helps!

    If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you for your time and patience throughout this issue.

    If you are the only global admin on the account and are blocked entirely, you can reach out to the Azure Data Protection team to restore access. 866-807-5850

    Also, for the future, you can create an emergency access account in Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization because you can't sign in for any reason.
