How can I solve issue with Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 MAK key not working (0xc004f050)?
I have a device that I would like to install Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 on.
On the advice of a Windows/IT professional, I was told that Windows 10 Pro must be installed and activated on the device first, then the version can be upgraded/changed to Windows 10 LTSC. As we are still in development, he recommended that we purchase a Visual Studio Professional subscription in order to get access to LTSC keys, which I did.
I bought a copy of Windows 10 Pro from Microsoft's website, installed that on the device (22h2 version) and activated it with the key I received from Microsoft without any issues. I then went to the Visual Studio Subscriptions portal and got my Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC (MAK Key).
However, when I went to Activation in Settings and clicked on "Change product key" and entered the MAK key for 2019 LTSC, I received the error "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. (0xc004f050)" I double and triple checked that the key was entered correctly, no change.
After doing some research, it seemed like the version of Windows 10 might matter in order to switch to 2019 LTSC, so I also tried installing Windows 10 Pro v1809, activated it as before, and entered the LTSC MAK key, but received the same error.
I have also tried changing the edition to LTSC using an elevated command prompt and elevated PowerShell and slmgr commands, but this also results in a similar error.
From reading articles online, this should be a viable upgrade path, from W10 Pro to W10 LTSC. I'm not sure what the issue is at this point.
Thank you!
