Global setting to turn off Chat notifications for a specific Teams Channel

A Team exists for the Entire Organisation. I want to create a Channel for a specific department. Users can submit requests to this department in the Teams Channel, as Chats. The department administrators will monitor the Channel.

The thing is each time a Chat request is sent in this Teams Channel, the Entire Organisation will get the notifications. The users may have turned off Teams Chat notifications at the users device level.

I was wondering if a global setting exists to turn off Chat notifications for a specific Channel.

TIA

    Hi @dd88

I was wondering if a global setting exists to turn off Chat notifications for a specific Channel.

I am sorry to tell you that there is no such global settings exists to turn off chat notifications for a specific channel.

As a workaround, you could create a private channel for this department users. The notification will only be received to those users who in Teams private channel.

    Many thanks @JimmyYang-MSFT

I did explore the option to create a private channel. The users would like entire organisation to access this channel and message them. which means the same issue and the entire organisation will get notifications.

We got around it with Create a group chat
