Hi All,

Greeting for the day,

We received an alert in SCOM 2019 regarding a Domain Controller and the alert description is given below.

Alert: AD Op Master is inconsistent.

Alert Description: The script 'AD Replication Partner Op Master Consistency' failed to create object 'McActiveDir.ActiveDirectory'. This is an unexpected error.

The error returned was 'ActiveX component can't create object' (0x1AD)

The Active Directory Management Pack Objects (OOMADs) components are not installed on the Domain Controller. These components are required for the monitoring scripts to run successfully.

Our Support team has confirmed that there is no issues in the Domain controller side.

Could you please help me to resolve the issue.

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,

Aswin

    Hi Aswin,

this one is easy: There is nothing wrong with the DC, You just need an add-on that is required when you monitor domain controllers.

    From:

Adding the Active Directory helper object (OOMADs) to DC servers

Does the above optional configurations needs to have OOMADs separately installed. ? If you deploy the SCOM Agent this OOMADs gets installed autmatically if you deploy an Agent to a DC. If you install the SCOM Agent manually you Need to installt OOMAD manually Fact is you Need this component on your Domain Controller to monitor properly. It doesn't matter what configurations from the AD MP you choose.

    and also

What is the main purpose of of having this OOMADs.msi addtionally installed? It is an Additional Piece of software to the SCOM Agent to utilize the AD MP functionality to it's full degree. Steps to install the OOMADs ? Just execute the MSI which you will find in the AgentManagement Directory on your SCOM Management Server. What are the set of permisions needed for the action account ? Local System

Just install the OOMADs on your domain controller agents and the error will be gone.

here is one more article, explaining why the OOMADs component is not installed automatically:

Why is the manually installed Operations Manager agent not monitoring AD correctly on DC?

I hope I could help you with that.
