When terminating a debug session, I am typically in the middle of task, editing or navigating within a file as a result of the session:
When the session is terminated the message box in the screenshot above pops up in the middle of the workspace and is meaningless to my workflow and takes the screen focus (typically 5-10 seconds) and is very distracting.
I think the box is associated with dynamic symbol loading which is a great feature (don't get me wrong) but this popup is NOT. It has a cancel button which is also useless because the box is gone very quickly and the progress information is often abbreviated resource paths. It would be fantastic if the box could be delegated to 'Background Tasks' in the Visual Studio footer or something like that (as I have annotated in the image).
This is a deeply concerning issue that may seem trite but is consistently irritating so please try to help as I haven't found a solution or even a post referencing it online but can't help imagining others probably sympathize but avoid asking because as I said it seems trite. Please help!
I don't know if there is any option to control the symbol loading popup. When I'm debugging and using symbols sometimes it appears and other times it doesn't.
But as a practical matter I don't need to debug with symbols all the time so I only enable symbol loading at those times. And the amount of symbol loading can be controlled by selectively loading symbols only for the DLLs of interest. That would not prevent the popup, but its duration would be considerably lessened.
