I am working on deploying a webapp with an Azure for Student subscription containing $100 of credit and a Shared D1 App Service Plan supporting custom domains. However, as I tried creating an App Service domain, an error popped out stating "This subscription does not have the billing support to purchase this azure resource. (code: SubscriptionBillingSupportForDomainPurchase)"

I am having trouble understanding why this error is occurring, any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    Hi,

With student subscription you can't use your credit to purchase a domain. If you want to register a new domain and use it with App Services you can purchase it yourself from a domain registrar. For example, if you buy from namecheap you can get a .com name for about $7 for the first year. You don't need to use namecheap, I just gave them as example because their price is low for what is included and service is reliable.

Any of the major domain registrars will work fine. Enter "register domain name" in a search engine and there will be lots of options to choose from. If you have questions on how to get it working with Azure App Service we can help.

If the above information is helpful please click Accept Answer.

    Thanks.
