Greetings,

My laptop is due for replacement and I would like to transfer my Windows 10 Settings to the new laptop without resetting everything manually. What Windows files contain my settings for monitors, screen resolution, mouse speed, hibernate, etc? Please note I am referring to Windows Settings, not ribbon customizations.

Thank you for your consideration of this question.

Eric

This can be done by creating a Windows backup and restoring from it. Here is an article that provides two methods, step-by-step, to accomplish this, Transfer Windows Settings.

    Hello there,

You can save the settings to an external drive and restore them.

You can use the Windows backup feature to restore files from an old PC to a new one. Windows call this facility File History. In Windows 10, you set up your backup in the Backup pane of the Update & Security section of Settings. You click Add a drive to select the external drive for backup and restore.

If you are planning this for your organization this might help. Replace an existing computer and transfer settings with Configuration Manager https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/osd/deploy-use/replace-an-existing-computer-and-transfer-settings

Hope this resolves your Query !!
