Best way to handle product selection when creating a quote

We are on dynamics 8.2. When I am creating a record for a quote, it doesn't allow me to select a product at the time of the creation of the record. I have to save it without selecting a product and modify the quote to select the product I want to sell. Is there  a way I could select the product at the time of record creation?
