Sandbox login issue "Sign into invited account"

Whenever I attempt to sign into the Microsoft Sandbox to give permissions, I get the following message:

Sign into invited account

You are currently signed in as [email]@outlook.com, however, [email]@hotmail.com was invited. Do you want to switch to [email]@hotmail.com?

When I click the switch accounts button, I get the following error:

Invitation redemption failed

An error has occurred. Please retry again shortly.

It seems to be related to how my account is a linked hotmail.com and outlook.com account, as it was created before outlook.com was a thing.

    Hello!

    Why am I getting a "Sign into invited account" error when attempting to login to a sandbox?

    As reported by @Polaris , it appears that there is a login issue with the learn sandboxes when using Hotmail email accounts that have been merged with Outlook.com. Using a separate account that was never merged with Outlook.com is a temporary workaround while we work on a fix. I'll update this thread as I get more information.

    Issue summary:

    • "Sign into invited account" error when logging into sandbox
    • Cause is @hotmail.com account that was later merged with @outlook.com
    • Temporary workaround is to use a different account that was never merged with @outlook.com
