Exhcange server 2019 AutoDiscover stopped due to Basic Auth taken off ?

Dear Friends,

Just noticed in our company, Exchange 2019 AutoDiscover stopped for all devices. Tried test analyzer.

Result:

Testing HTTP Authentication Methods for URL https://domainname/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/.

The HTTP authentication test failed.

 Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it



Additional Details

The Initial Anonymous HTTPS request didn't fail, but Anonymous isn't a supported authentication method for this scenario. HTTP Response Headers: Allow: OPTIONS Allow: TRACE Allow: GET Allow: HEAD Allow: POST Public: OPTIONS, TRACE, GET, HEAD, POST Content-Length: 0 Date: Mon, 30 Jan 2023 03:16:30 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/10.0

I have this feeling that we need to disable Basic Auth. So, I disabled one of Basic Auth for Virtual Directory on Exchange ECP. Did not seem to fix the problem. SHould I disable Basic Auth for Server - Virtual Directories etc? Any idea how I can fix it ?

Hi @Namless Shelter ,

I noticed that the URL you tested is activesync and not autodiscover, have you tried the autodiscover test in outlook?

You could refer to this article to test your autodiscover: How to quickly verify if Autodiscover is working

Could you let me know what specific problems are automatically found to occur in your environment?

Seems Auodiscover for internal ethernet laptop is working. On mobile phones it did not work.

SHould I disable Basic Auth for Server - Virtual Directories etc? Or it is required by the Autodiscover directory?

Also, does mobile phone need ActiveSync to get AutoDiscover? Seems ActivcSync for Mobile Autodiscover is broken...

Hi @Namless Shelter ,

You could not change the default settings for virtual directories, which may cause problems with your Exchange server.

Are you having problems with mobile only? Could you provide a specific screenshot of the problem?
