What type of issues can cause an NMI crashdump not to be performed?

Hello,

I have a Windows 2019 Standard Server that is intermittently hanging (approx once per week).

The symptoms of the "hang" are:

  • screen blank (i.e. no GUI)
  • no response to Ctl-Alt-Del
  • no mouse
  • no response to ping
  • NMI crashdump not performed

An NMI crashdump can be performed on this system, just not when the "hang" occurs.

The hardware vendor is telling me that I'm dealing with a software issue. I'm sceptical about this claim, because I'm using this server image on other computers without issue.

I'm after information on what types of issues can cause an NMI crashdump not to be performed?

Because while I can trigger an NMI crashdump on this system for testing purposes, when the "hang" occurs, I'm not able to generate a crashdump.

Thanks
Vaughan
