Yes, there are several bugs in the new editor. MS is working on it. You can post/search Microsoft Q&A to see the issues. For now I think people have best success witching to View Markdown and putting it in by hand - example. If you want to use the rich text editor then just type the link text in without brackets and then add the link using the toolbar.
Thanks for the answer @Michael Taylor , sorry if my post has been a little confusing. I was reporting the bugs and this was just a test to show the bug in editor, no matter where the editor is used, in Questions, Comments, and answers, and I posted this in Not Monitored tag to not confuse anyone.
Apparently this one is kind of by design, and if you paste a http url it just doesn't set the href when rendering to make it a little more secure; probably not the best UX, and not the best implementation. For https links it works as expected.
The team has taken this feedback and has created a backlog item to potentially change this behavior thanks to you making us aware of this issue. Thanks.
