I am currently using Visual Studio 2019 version 16.11.23 Build Number 16.11.33214.272 and extension SQL Server Integration Services Projects version 16.0.5035.3.
I have been reading extensively about this issue. I have recently found myself not bein able to open the script task editor. I have to uninstall the extension, reinstalling the extension, uninstalling visual studio, reinstalling visual studio, uninstalling the visual studio installer and reinstalling the visual studio installing. After uninstalling I tried running the uninstaller that removes instances of visual studio then running CCleaner to clean up files left behind and registry.
Having read all of these articles, forums, Q&A's I have done nearly all that I can think of aside from resetting my pc. Is there something that I may have overseen that I can do to get the script component to open the editor?

Its particular version: 3.16

Thanks for the tip, I have just tried that solution to use that version and I still have the same issue, unfortunately.

Thank you @Yitzhak Khabinsky , I have downloaded and attempted to run the install. When I ran the install is showed the Visual Studio splash screen then closed. It never asked for UAC to install, so I am assuming it most likely didn't install on my machine.

the installation of SSDT solved the problem, it's just crazy how this bug is still persisting in 2023

Go to the Control Panel and right click Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2019 and then repair it for a try.

Hi @ZoeHui-MSFT , I cannot see the Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2019 in my control panel. I do, however, see it when I look at the about information for Visual Studio 2019.

This works. I can now open the Script Task in Visual Studio 2019 version 16.11. Thanks for the tip.
