Hello,
I would like to increase the number of pinned files for applications that are pinned to the taskbar, e.g. Word, Excel.
There are numerous web sites mentioning to create/update the registry key JumpListItems_Maximum under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced but this does not work.
This is under Windows 10 Pro 22H2 build 19045.2546
How can I increase the number of pinned files?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query.
Unfortunately, the option to increase the number of pinned files for applications pinned to the taskbar is not available in Windows 10. The registry key you mentioned (JumpListItems_Maximum) has been present in previous versions of Windows, but it may not work in the latest builds of Windows 10.
The number of items displayed in a taskbar jump list is determined by Microsoft and is subject to change between different builds and updates of Windows 10. The default limit is usually 10 items, but it may vary depending on the version and build of Windows 10 you are using.
If you need to access more files for a specific application, you can use the application's File menu or the Open command to open additional files. Another alternative is to use the application's Recent files list, which is usually accessible from the File menu or the application's toolbar.
Additionally, you can create a shortcut for a file or folder and pin it to the taskbar or the Start menu, making it easily accessible. This way, you can have quick access to frequently used files and folders without having to open the application and navigate to the file or folder each time.
