Hi,

I have Azure Virtual Network gateway basic SKU configure. The S2S tunnel is connected and working. However, The P2S Azure client using SSTP/certs is not working and I am receiving the below error.

"A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

(Error 0x8007274c)"

Just to add that i have checked below as well and they are correct.

  1. Please make sure there are no NSGs or UDRs in the Gateway subnet
  2. Can you please check if the VPN gateway is in a Succeeded Provisioning state (you can check this under Properties blade)

Can you please him me with it?

Thanks

    Hello @Hassan Wahab ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

I understand that you have set up a Basic VPN gateway with certificate authentication for point to site VPN connection but when trying to connect to the VPN client, it fails with the following error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly responder after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. Error 0x8007274c."

Only SSTP connections are supported on Basic P2S VPN gateway and hence the tunnel type on your Azure VPN gateway should be set to SSTP. I believe you have it correctly setup as you have already mentioned "P2S Azure client using SSTP/certs is not working".

    Refer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/vpn-gateway/vpn-gateway-about-vpngateways#gwsku

However, if it is not, please change it to SSTP and save it and then re-download the VPN client and re-install it on your computer and try connecting again.

If it is correctly set to SSTP, then this issue may be occurring because the VPN client is not getting the routes from the Azure VPN gateway.

To resolve the issue, please try resetting your VPN gateway and redownload the VPN client and try connecting again.

    Refer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/vpn-gateway/reset-gateway#reset-a-gateway

Kindly let us know if the above helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

    Hi @GitaraniSharma-MSFT

I had the exact same problem and I solved it by resetting the gateway.

Thank you so much for your help.

    Regards.

Resetting the gateway should fix this and/or I removed some old entries in the P2S config section and then saved the new settings which I think similarly resets the VPN gateway. (VPN Cert was current)
