Unable to save Word 2003 as they say read only

I have Microsoft word 2003 and everytime I try to save, it says it is a read only file. I can't rename it because it says the file already exists and is a read only file even if I just created it. All old files show Read Only as well as new files. This is on my home computer so I am the only one opening the file.

    Hi Diana,

Try going to Save As and save it as a new Word format (.docx).

    I recommend these items:
Solution 1 – Start Word in Safe Mode
    Solution 2 – Rename Normal.dotm template
    Solution 3 – Disable autocapitalizationfeature
Solution 4 – Check your antivirus software
Solution 5 – Disable Controlled Folder Access
Solution 6 – Check the save location
Solution 7 – Remove the Word Data registry key
