password rejected on iOS ipad RDP but not on iPhone

I have no issue logging in to my windows 10 box using my iPhone, but the password is rejected when using ipad. All OSes are up to date. I even wiped the rdp on the ipad and reinstalled. Same thing. I am at a complete loss… any ideas?
