How do I stop my C drive Documents and Settings/{user name} folder (and all the content therein) from being a mirror with and the Documents and Settings/{user name} folder (and all content in it) on an older hard drive (F) in my system?

I'm trying to recycle an old hard drive in my system - it used to be my C drive, but I bought a SSD and made that my C drive. When I installed Windows 10 on the new SSD, I copied my Documents and Settings/DeliaMain (this is the user name) folder from my old hard drive (now F:/) to my new SSD drive (C:/). Now, if I delete any folder(s) and/or file(s) on the old HD (F:/) the same folder(s) and/or file(s) are deleted on C:/ and vice versa - delete them on C drive, they get deleted on F drive. The same thing happens if I add or change folder(s) and/or file(s). How can I reformat my F drive without losing my entire Documents and Settings/DeliaMain folder and all its files on the C drive?

Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query

You can backup your entire Documents and Settings/DeliaMain folder from the C drive to a different location (e.g. an external hard drive or another location on your computer), then reformat your old hard drive (F:/). Once you have reformatted your old hard drive, you can copy the backed up Documents and Settings/DeliaMain folder back to the C drive. This way, the folder and its contents will not be deleted or changed when you reformat the old hard drive.

Thank you for the work-around. Can I just copy and paste my Documents and Settings/DeliaMain folder from the C drive to another hard drive in my system or should I use a specific backup utility? Can you recommend one?

Also, I'm still very curious as to WHY this is happening since I just copied and pasted the Documents and Settings/DeliaMain folder from the F drive (my prior C drive) to my new new C drive. Any ideas???

It's been over a week and still no answer from my follow-up question. Issue wasn't solved - just given a work-around which is basically what I did initially. Nothing has been given to prevent from this happening using the work-around. NOT SATISFIED!
