Remote access to the server is not enabled.

The issue I face depends on whether I use Remote Desktop Connection (built-in) or Remote Desktop (Downloaded).

Using RD Connection I get:

     Remote access to the server is not enabled.

Using Remote Desktop I get:

     You have been disconnected because another connection was made to the remote PC. Error code: 0x516 Extended error code: 0x0 Activity ID: {5aa302b2-27bb-4abd-83bb-6d5952f50000}

I've Disabled restrict to 1 user and Enabled up to 10 users via 'gpedit.msc'

Router set point forwarding from public facing IP to computer IP address

On the Host I have "Allowed remote access" + "Allowed remote connections to this computer"

    Hello,

    what's the issue you're facing with RD? It should be kind of straightforward, usually no registry changes are needed.

    Very kind of you Raphael, but I really do need a break for a few days. The reference to the registry is to check various settings. Kind regards, LJ

    Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query

    Whether it is worth spending £240 for two Pro upgrades to use Remote Desktop depends on your individual needs and circumstances.

    Remote Desktop is a feature that allows you to remotely control a computer from another device. The Pro edition of Windows includes Remote Desktop, and upgrading from a non-Pro edition to Pro would allow you to use this feature.

    If you regularly need to access computers remotely and require the capabilities of Remote Desktop, then upgrading to Pro may be worth the investment. On the other hand, if you do not have a need for remote access or can accomplish your tasks with alternative methods, then the upgrade may not be worth the cost.

    Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to upgrade to Pro to use Remote Desktop depends on the specific needs and circumstances of the individual.

    Hi Limitless,

    It would be worth £240 if it were as simple to set up Remote Desktop as MS say when they encourage you to upgrade 2x Home to Pro:

    1. Set up the PC you want to connect to so it allows remote connections:
    • When you're ready, select Start > System > Remote Desktop, and turn on Enable Remote Desktop.
    • Make note of the name of this PC under How to connect to this PC. You'll need this later.
    1. Use Remote Desktop to connect to the PC you set up:
    • On your local Windows 10 PC: In the search box on the taskbar, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then select Remote Desktop Connection. In Remote Desktop Connection, type the name of the PC you want to connect to (from Step 1), and then select Connect.

    It that was all there is to setting up Remote Desktop, and it worked, that would be fine. But there's no support from Microsoft if it doesn't, and no money back if dissatisfied. Poor show.

    Hi Rafael,

    (Apologies for mis-spelling your name previously)

    The issue I face depends on whether I use Remote Desktop Connection (built-in) or Remote Desktop (Downloaded).

    Using RD Connection I get:

    1. Remote access to the server is not enabled. In answer to 2) & 3) The computer is switched on and available on the network

    Using Remote Desktop I get:

    You have been disconnected because another connection was made to the remote PC. Error code: 0x516 Extended error code: 0x0 Activity ID: {5aa302b2-27bb-4abd-83bb-6d5952f50000}

    I've Disabled restrict to 1 user and Enabled up to 10 users via 'gpedit.msc'

    Router set point forwarding from public facing IP to computer IP address

    On the Host I have "Allowed remote access" + "Allowed remote connections to this computer"

    Thank you for your consideration,

    LJ
