We currently have the following setup, everything on a single server.

Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 Service Pack 2

SQL Server 2012

Sharepoint Server 2013

Windows Server 2012 R2

Our goal is to have MIM running on Windows Server 2016 or higher. As I understand, Sharepoint Server 2013 does not support anything higher than Windows Server 2012 R2.

Is there anyone here who has done such upgrade? There are a lot of resources regarding Sharepoint 2013 to 2016 and 2019 upgrade but the main question is, what will happen to all Management Agents, Synchronization Rules, Sets, Worksflows etc content in MIM if such upgrade is done. It seems that the upgrade path requires a completely new server for Sharepoint 2013.

Is this doable? Or are we facing a complete rebuild of our MIM environment, MAs and everything?

    Hi,

Reinstall a fresh Server with Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022.

You will also need to do a fresh install of SharePoint 2019 (and PAY for a license).

Follow the install / upgrade MIM instructions: migrate the FIMSynchronization and FIMService databases.

    And more :)
