Same issue. If the PWA application is not minimized then I don't receive notifications.

I use MS Teams as an installed PWA. Notifications work, but they are not sent/shown in some period after using the PWA. For example, I write a message, switch to another application, I get a reply within maybe 1 minute, but I don't get a notification. I guess the application thinks I'm still working with it, but in fact I'm missing messages. I experienced this in Linux/Chrome, Edge and also macOS/Edge. Notifications don't seem come also when I'm writing a message in Teams to a person and I get a message from someone else.
It would be good to have an option to "send notifications even when Teams window is active" or even better to improve the detection of the window being active.

I have been testing the notifications a bit more. My initial assumption, that notifications are not shown if the Teams was used recently, was wrong. The notifications are not shown if:
- the selected chat in Teams is the one that will receive a message
- and the Teams window is in the background but not minimized (when minimized, notifications will come).
This is problematic, since the only place I can notice a new message is the Teams window title. If at least the window favicon (application icon) changed - to indicate a new message.
Teams PWA probably checks the
document.hiddenJavaScript property which says that a web page (document) is hidden only if its window is minimized or it is in an inactive tab. I would suggest to usedocument.hasFocus()instead, which returns true only if I work with do web page. -

Do you set up notification reminders? Please check to see if it's turned on in Settings.
I tested it in Teams PWA. When I log in for the first time, I get a banner like this. You can see the "Stay in know, turn on desktop notifications" pop-up window in the lower right corner. (Refer to screenshot)

Microsoft Teams tag is mainly focused on the general issue of Microsoft Teams troubleshooting. Since we are not very familiar with scripts. To troubleshoot if you might be affected by the script, perform a clean boot and sign back into Teams.

This is a critical issue. ¿No plans for a fix?

Please note that @Ján Halaša was not referring to any 3rd party script when he suggested what JavaScript function to use.
He was referring to Teams PWA. PWA = progressive web app, written in JavaScript. So the "Microsoft Teams" tag on the question is correct.

Tim Wagner 0 Reputation points2023-07-24T12:58:49.77+00:00 I experience the same issue. If Teams is open on one of my displays, but not in focus, I do not get notifications, often until I click on the window. The window also does not update, making it seem like nothing new is there at a glance.
