How to override edit rights on files in Teams

We allow all employees access to all files and folders within our Sharepoint and Teams environment. However, we want to have certain documents set to open in reviewer mode. Is there a way to do this without having to change access rights for users? For example, the user is a member of a team and has edit rights; we want to save a document within the team but have that document open in reviewing mode. Can we just "share" the document with the user as Review and that will overwrite the existing permissions at the site/team level?

    Hi @Amy Keith

Do you mean to set the file to read only mode?

Files in Teams group are stored in SharePoint, to edit team member access to the file, it is suggested to edit file access permission via SharePoint:

    1. In Teams, select one team group and the channel, and click files tab.
    2. In files tab, click Open in SharePoint.
    3. Select the file you want to edit and change access permission->click “”->Details.
    4. In right pane, click “Manage access”.
    5. Set Team members access to “Can view”, and add specific users you’d like to grant access via “Grant Access”.
