What is the difference between the two register values? ( EnableDeadGWDetect VS DeadGWDetectDefault )

2023-02-08T16:38:37.87+00:00

[EnableDeadGWDetect]

0 => (False) / 1 => (True)

I know this Allow automatic detection of dead network gateways (could lead to DoS)

Therefore, I know that the value should be set to 0 for security.

[DeadGWDetectDefault]

But For security reasons, Korea Financial Security Institute recommend that do the following:

"DeadGWDetectDefault" = "1"

So the two seem to be different, but I don't know what it is.

could you please give me some advice?

    Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query

    The EnableDeadGWDetect and DeadGWDetectDefault register values are both related to the Dead Gateway Detection feature in Windows operating systems. The EnableDeadGWDetect register value is a boolean value that is used to enable or disable the Dead Gateway Detection feature. The DeadGWDetectDefault register value is an integer value that is used to set the timeout period for the Dead Gateway Detection feature. When enabled, the Dead Gateway Detection feature will periodically check to see if the default gateway is still working, and if not, it will search for a new gateway. The timeout period is the amount of time in seconds that the feature will wait before checking again.
