Hi

How will the cost start incur when a Failover Group is activated?

Meaning hypothetically speaking, if I created a Secondary SQL Server on 01st December 2022 and a disaster occurs on 15th January 2023 which eventually will run up to 17th January 2022 before we could bring back the Primary; will the cost being calculated for Failover Group is on 15th January 2023 for 2 days? or it will incur cost from 01st December 2022 (the day we created the Secondary Server) onwards uptil now irrespective a disaster occurred or not?

Kindly clarify on the above.

    Hi @Hifni Nazeer ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and thanks for using Azure services.

As I understand from the question, you want to understand the cost during SQL Failover.

Secondary active geo-replication databases are priced at 100 percent of primary database prices. The cost of geo-replication traffic between the primary and the online secondary is included in the cost of the online secondary.

    Reference: Geo Replication Cost

Hope this helps. Please let us know your inputs for more queries.
