Hi,

I have 2 AD Connect servers - one active and one passive. Both are running AD Connect version 2.0.10.0. This needs to be updated by the 15th of March or otherwise synchronisation may stop working properly as advised by Microsoft.

Our Azure AD has around 40,000 objects. The only customisations to AD Connect which we have made are the optional features (i.e. enabled Password Hash Sync and custom attribute sync). Can I just download the latest version of AD Connect and run an in place upgrade on the passive server and then repeat the exercise for the active server?

Thanks in advance

You can just download the latest version on AD connect and run the set up file on the servers. This will automatically update AD connect to latest version. You will also get the customizations in place that you already have in older AD connect.

    Recommendations:

I would recommend you to perform the upgrade process first in passive server. Once updated to latest version you can make passive server as active and active server as passive. Post this you can update the other AD connect also to latest version.

You can also refer below article to get more information regarding this.
