Inbound Email Not received on first migrated mailbox - sending works

We have run Hybrid Config Wizard and federated Exchange. The connectors were automatically created by wizard. I migrated my 2010 mailbox and soon realized it was orphaned.

I have resolved outbound email by reconfiguring the connector in Exchange Online Admin.

I still cannot receive email from internal or external sources.

From what I see the wizard created a new mail domain customers.mail.onmicrosoft.com and my online cloud mailbox has a SMTP address to match that domain.

However when I look at my account in AD it doesn't show this address in attributes under proxy addresses.

I believe that what is happening is Exchange cannot find my mailbox locally and routes it out via internet through Mimecast which rejects it as open relay based on the real email address.

There is an outbound connector to O365 but its not being used.

It seems that something didn't work in HCW or do I need to allow cloud changes to replicate back to on-prem?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi @David Turner ,

I still cannot receive email from internal or external sources.

Is there any bounce back message (NDR) to the sender when this occurs? If yes, you can remove all personal information and then share the bounce back error here so that we can help investigate further.

Besides, below is a KB article about a similar issue for reference:
Delivery has failed and 550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound NDR after a mailbox is moved to Microsoft 365

You can go through it and try the solutions provided there to add the target email address address supposing the symptom applies to your situation.
