Factory resetting an old employer computer asking for employer account to sign in

Hello,

I recently departed from an employer and being a remote position they allowed me to keep the equipment they sent me. I left it alone for months, but I recently wanted to use it as a personal computer. I had to do a clean wipe since I had no access to an Administrator account and the company has abandoned all communication. However, while I wiped the computer using BIOS and tried installing a new copy of windows 10 via a USB it is still asking me to sign in with my employer email address which I no longer have access to. I have tried everything in every forum possible to overcome this, but nothing I do works. I am hoping someone will give me hope that I can get rid of this because otherwise the computer will have to go in the trash.

It is a Dell Optiplex 3090 mini desktop. I appreciate any help.

Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query

If you are attempting to factory reset an old employer computer and it is asking for an employer account to sign in, it is likely that the computer was not correctly wiped before it was returned to you. Depending on the type of computer, you may be able to reset it to its original factory settings, which will remove all data and settings from the device. If this is not possible, you should contact your former employer to see if they can provide you with access to their account so you can reset the device.
