Yeah, how can I do that for good - I'm so sick an tired of this trying to force my to use Edge ... I DON*T want to !
I have set the default browser to another browser than Edge I have Uninstalled the Microsoft Edge WebView2 - STILL it comes up in the Task manager.
How can I prevent this ?
Did you try to uninstall the runtime, like in this thread for example :

I've tried different folders as current folder ... but no - it reports:
'setup.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
You must go the the folder where setup.exe is if you don't use the full path...

Did you uninstall all versions from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application
But this Runtime is now a part of the OS and it is used by any application which uses the WebView2 control
I followed the commands given i the earlier posting executed from the CMD ... but unfortunately it only cured the problem for a short while.
I tried to attach a screendump next time I saw the instances ... but this attaching seems NOT too work ... too .-) !
I'm so sick and tired og theis Edge-crap I just want to get rid of it all - I see absolutly NO reasom for 8-9 or 10 instances of EdgeWebView2 taking up a lot of memmory and now and the even time on the CPU :-(
But did you uninstall from all sub-folders from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application ?
I was not aware I had to !
Do I just use the same commend as before in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application" folder :
setup.exe --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall
?
I don't know which sub-folders you have
For example, I have
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\110.0.1587.50
But if you have Services like "Microsoft Edge Update Service" which run in Automatic, it will be re-installed ...
