It was recommended I use msxsl.exe to conditionally compile a vb.net project based on a variable defined in a batch file. I did this and it worked twice. The third time though, msxsl.exe had disappeared. I searched my entire hard drive for it but couldn't find it (I have explorer set to show hidden files). I was advised to reinstall .net framework so I installed the 4.81 developer edition. But it did not install msxsl.exe. Can someone please tell me where msxsl.exe went and how I can reinstall it?

Thanks for your speedy response to my question. Msxsl.exe disappeared from my computer after learning to use it and using it successfully a couple of times. It seems like the system removed the file without asking or warning me. I really object to this type of behavior which, in this case, caused me to waste 4 hours of my time figuring out what went wrong. There should have been a popup or warning that the file was being removed from my computer.
Hi, welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
msxsl.exe is a part of the MS Core XML Services (MSXML).
Best Regards.
