Edit AppxBlockMap.xml in uwp

Hi,

Is there a way where I can edit the blockmap structure and add more files or edit properties of an UWP app. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The AppxBlockMap.xml is generated automatically when build each app ZIP package via VS or MakeAppx.exe. One of the usages of AppxBlockMap.xml is to check and re-validate the app content after the app deploys. The child of the file could be found here: Package block map schema reference. But it is still unclear why do you want to change a file which will be generated automagically in the package?

Yes as its autogenerated all I want is to add some files which needs to be validated on deployment. I'm still unclear how to achieve the same like where to add those files using visual studio tools if any.

There is no tool in Visual Studio that could directly modify the AppxBlockMap.xml which is compressed in the msixbundle file. If you want to modify it, you will need to uncompressed the package file and directly change it. The schema reference of the xml file is listed: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/schemas/blockmapschema/root-elements
