Exchange Online/Office 365 has very limited support for email address policies. In fact, only M365 Group objects are supported for them, which is why you can only use the -IncludeUnifiedGroupRecipients parameter, and none of the other "recipient" parameters. In other words, you cannot have an email address policy in Exchange Online that covers mailboxes. DGs, or any other recipient type apart from M365 Groups.

In other words, you cannot have an email address policy in Exchange Online that covers mailboxes. DGs, or any other recipient type apart from M365 Groups.

Agree with Vasil that it's not supported to create email address policies for recipient types apart from Microsoft 365 group in Exchange Online. See New-EmailAddressPolicy.

Hello Vasil,

Thats right, we cannot use email address policy for users on o365. this is something strange , since this is one of the basic functionality to stamp email address for new users automatically.

We dont have hybrid. has AD and Azure AD Connect.
